The Kodak Experience

Launch Site

Firstborn teamed up with Ogilvy, New York to create the new Kodak Experience where people can pass that memorable moment throughout a nine person grid that magically transforms each Kodak product into the next.

Client: Kodak
Agency: Firstborn, Ogilvy
Year: 2009
Type: Microsite
Role: Flash Development
Team: Sole Developer

Concept

The site's concept was that a big family - represented by a nine person grid - can share memorable moments with each other, using Kodak products. Despite being in different locations and using different products (i.e. camera, laptop, photoframe) they can all share moments of their life with each other which connects them as a family.

Passing Sequences

One of the important selling points about Kodak's product line is that the different products all work really well together. For this reason the 'magic' moment where one person passes a memorable moment to the next person with a different product was the key moment of the experience. We filmed passing and recieving shots for each person, with each person being able to pass on and recieve multiple products.

XML Video Control

To control the big amount of individual passing and recieving sequences, I created a special XML schema, where videos could easily be referenced and then be dynamically stitched together by the Flash application. This made it possible to easily alter existing sequences and a product's route through the grid.
